Helm Race Night

Helm Hill Club are excited to announce the resumption of the Annual Helm Hill Race Night on Wednesday 14th July 2021.

RV and parking. The plan is for Juniors to RV at their normal locations (or pre-arranged for the race night) with their respective coaches at 6:30pm whereupon race numbers/pins will be allocated. Junior U9/11/13/15s will be led to the starting areas by their coaches after warming up. Any seniors and under 17s planning to run will need to register in advance (details to follow) and then pick up a number before 6:45pm from a car parked in the normal meeting spot on the helm.   Parking is tricky this year as we cannot use the Station Inn Pub Carpark other than for drop off and pick up so we will have to use the space in and around the Helm itself.  Bonus points for anyone who arrives by bike/foot!

Race times and Route.  Seniors/U17s will start at 7pm (everyone must be there 5 mins before so we can count you). U9/11/13/15s will start together at 7:15pm.  The routes are exactly the same as in the previous race in 2019 (see map above).

Cost and Kit.  The race is FREE. For kit, normal FRA rules DON’T apply that evening (it’s our own club race) so bum-bags are not required unless people wish to if the weather is poor.

Prizes.  There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rdplace prizes for Juniors for U9s/U11s/U15s/17s. There will also be prizes for any notable efforts of the night, all courtesy of Pete Bland Sports.  Seniors can bask in the glory of their results and there will hopefully be club goodies available for first M/F in open, V40/V50/V60 categories.

Spectators / Marshals.  Final plea. The Helm in parts has lots of close dead ground and despite the flags people have gone off course in the past. So we need marshals on the route to guide the different age groups along the correct paths and help at the start/finish area. If you can help in any way, it would REALLY be appreciated. If you have any questions or you can help, you can contact the race organiser directly (Justin Tancrel) at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  or you can go onto the Face Book site that also details the event. It would be great to see as many Helm Hill Club members as possible on the night, either competing, marshalling or spectating.
