Routes:
Juniors - Flagged. Out and back mostly on pathless rough grass with occasional rocks. U17s has higher and steeper ground.
Juniors take a more gradual line up the long spur of Yarlside and return the same way with fast, grassy running back down.
Seniors - Flagged. Includes a beck crossing, is steep, often pathless with slippy, uneven, rough ground that is rocky in places. High and steep ground.
The senior race starts with a brisk canter along a trail, across the river, then a stonking big climb up Gt Dummacks. The descent is long and spectacular (when not in thick mist) and the closest thing to flying without apparatus. About 4 miles.
ps: seniors - don't be calmed by the pic - the juniors are going up Yarlside, seniors go up the slope/wall on the left across the valley. And it goes on and on.
Fell Runners Association Race Licence: (available at the race).
