Longsleddale

This is the first time the Winter League has ventured into the beautiful Longsleddale Valley (click here for street map) and runners are in for a treat. The route encompasses all the favourite characteristics of this famous series - lung busting climbs, rocky descents, fast flat grassy tracks and an energy sapping slog across a remote fell. All surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery the Lakes has to offer. Starting at Docker Nook Farm the race heads across fields and up onto the fell above Docker Crag. A quick glance at the stunning view before you head back down through the woods on a tricky descent to the valley bottom again.  A flatish 100m along the bottom (this is your recovery) before you get your climbing legs on again and head back up onto the fell. A short contour round at the top and then you head west for a testing 1500m with more than a hint of Whitestones about it…(KWL veterans will know what I mean). If the wind is against you this will be tough - if there is no wind it will still be tough. Through a gate at the top and it’s all plain sailing as you descend on a flat grassy track for a 2km sprint to the finish at the farm.

The race will be run on a mixture of private and open access land in a protected area. Please do not recce the route prior to race day.

We are approaching lambing season so please could all runners and spectators keep to the marked race route to avoid disturbing sheep

Strictly no dogs allowed.

Parking will be in the fields near the start. Please park only where indicated by marshalls. No parking on the road.

Junior courses will be out and back from the start
