Entry

Entries will be via SiEntries and will be a ballot format.

The ballot for entries will open at 12:00 pm on Friday 1st of March 2019.

Between the 1st and the 3rd March 2019 everyone who wishes to take part should register for the race ballot. The ballot will stay open until 18:00 on Sunday 3rd March.  During the next week 3- 8th March entries will be randomly allocated amongst those who have entered the ballot*. Time-limited invitations to enter will be issued by email and you should use the link provided to pay for your entry within the next 7 days.

Entry will be £16.

*This will exclude those with a guaranteed entry as per the Fell Runners Association website; anyone who registers and qualifies for guaranteed entry will be invited by email to use the link provided to pay for your entry within the next 7 days. There will be no dispensation if eligible runners fail to respond to the invitation to enter within 7 days. In this case their place would be reallocated.

A waiting list will be operated should the event reach 450 entries. If an invitation is not taken up after 7 days, a randomly selected runner from the waiting list will be issued an invitation. If anyone cancels their entry prior to midnight on the 29th March 2019 they will be eligible for a partial refund of £10. Their entry will be reallocated to a random person on the waiting list. Entries will allocated up until Wednesday 3rd April 2019.

Proven experience of having completed an AL category fell race or equivalent alternative to the satisfaction of the Organisers will be needed and should be provided with your entry.

This race is over a rough, tough, largely pathless course with slippy uneven ground that is rocky. The weather in April is rarely ‘pleasant’ and the fells are often clagged in, making navigation difficult on a course with many pathless sections.  If you are at all unsure of your ability to complete the course safely, you should gain more experience and come back another year.

Advice and safety details for all runners is here: http://fellrunner.org.uk/documents.php . It is your responsibility to be prepared and suitably knowledgeable to undertake this race.

Car Parking

Please lift share this year, this is essential as vehicle parking is limited.

There will be some parking available within Sedbergh School grounds (LA10 5HG) for those arriving early. This will be signed on the day and depending on which location will be no more than 10 minutes walk to the race registration. Under no circumstances should anyone park other than where indicated or on the grass verges / sports fields within the school grounds.

There are two public car parks in Sedbergh at:

- Joss Lane car park, at the end of Main Street. LA10 5AB

- Loftus Hill, LA10 5RX

There is parking on Busk Lane, although only park on the side which has not be coned off.

Neither of the above car parks is more than a 3-4 minute walk from the race registration so please be considerate and use these parking spaces and lift share where possible.

There is very limited parking on Howgill Lane that is to be used by the race marshalls. DO NOT park on the lane beyond the playing field as the streets are used by residents for parking.

Facilities on the day

There is a hall, changing rooms, toilets and tea/coffee and cake will be served after the race.

From all at Helm Hill, we look forwards to seeing you in early April.
