Juniors - Flagged. out and back mostly on pathless rough grass with occasional rocks. U17s has steeper ground.

Seniors -  Flagged. Includes a beck crossing, is steep, often pathless with slippy uneven ground that is rocky.

Everybody has a favourite and this is one for many. For seniors, the race starts with a brisk canter along a trail, across the river, then a stonking big climb up Gt Dummacks. The descent is long and spectacular (when not in thick mist) and the closest thing to flying without apparatus. About 4 miles.

Juniors take a more gradual line up the long spur of Yarlside and return the same way with grassy running back down.

ps: don't be calmed by the pic - the juniors are going up Yarlside, seniors go up the slope on the left across the valley. And it goes on and on.

FRA Race Licence: This race has a 2018 licence
